Trying Lua

Hey there.

After setting up VSCode on my PC and properly installing the Playdate SDK and all the VSCode plugins to make development easier, I'm ready to get my hands dirty.

My First Tutorial

Looking around the internet of things, I found a Youtube channel for playdate / programmer beginners called SquidGod. After checking his first few videos explaining the basics, I got going with his How to Make a Simple Playdate Game video.

And here is what I got to show for it:

If only this was UE...

I'm able to understand all the concepts based off my visual scripting experience. However, I keep running into the same issue over and over again -- I don't know how to properly read code yet so I don't know if I'm looking at a variable or some basic Lua function or what. I will get myself through some documentation first so at least I understand a bit more of it.

In the meantime, I'm also tinkering with this small project from the tutorial and adding extra features to make sure my ape brain assimilates what I was taught on the video.

My Actual Project

I have a basic concept already and I'm forcing myself to keep it simple (like, free or $2 sort of simple) --don't quote me on this in a few months. Thanks-- I will share the basic concept on another log soon. It should only take a few words to explain it, anyway.
